Free Fishing Day!

I feel like I have been going non-stop all this week and finally get a little down time today to get caught up on a few things! Last Saturday, June 5th, was Free Fishing Day in Utah so Nana and I took Anne, Bracken and Bryce out to Papa's for the weekend. 3 kids in the back seat for almost 3 hours wasn't the best idea but we made it without having to put anyone on the hood of the car...ha, ha!

Friday, Dad decided to take the kids to the park in Vernal and they had a blast! So many fun things to do!

Papa even got in on the action!

In the end, playing in the sand with a cup and spoon ended up being Anne's favorite. It is the simple things in life...

This was my favorite moment from the park. Anne just loves her cousins! Papa then took everyone to McDonalds for Happy Meals and more playing there.
Later that night, the kids all colored on Papa's driveway with chalk...and then they played Hide and Seek with Nana and Papa!

Saturday was the big day! We got the kids up early so Papa could bring fish to the pond. DWR and the Forest Service do a neat thing where they teach the kids about fish, casting, tying knots and ethics. It started off with everyone just fishing and signing in for the prize drawing, then Dad unloaded the fish and he told them about them and let them look at a few up close before putting them in the water. Then they broke off into groups for quick little classes and then came the prizes! All 3 kids came away with their own new fishing pole! So exciting!!!

Then Papa had the task of setting up all of the poles. Bryce and Anne's poles came with casting plugs so they could cast without us having to worry about hooks! Papa said this is the only way he'll fish with little kids from now on!

The kids...including Nana...really got into it and had so much fun casting and reeling in their poles. I think they could have stayed all day if we had let them! The best part was that once the prizes were given out, 95% of the people there took off so we almost had the pond to ourselves! Unfortunately, due to the run off, the pond was muddy looking and we didn't catch anything...but, that's OK!

I just love this photo of Anne fishing along side Papa!
Thanks Papa and Nana for a fun weekend and making memories with the kids! Looking forward to hopefully doing it again next year!

Man..... missed free fishing again. Looks like a great spot to go in the future. Need to keep going and catch a ton of fish that poppa has planted.
