Tracy Aviary and Scera Pool

Another fun filled family day for the Cartier's! This time we went to the Tracy Aviary and later to the Scera Pool!

Anne has her princess wave down! She loves to socialize with anyone...if she's in the mood, of course!

We saw some amazing birds!

Anne wanted to see how she measured up to the Emu!
This was the cutest little "bird" we saw! After this, we took Anne to Wendy's and got her chicken nuggets! Yes, we found this a little funny.

The pool party didn't start until 8:30 pm and with an outdoor pool on a mild July weather day, it was a little on the cool side. Anne didn't care though, she just wanted to play.

We did pull her out from time to time to cover her up and also let her eat some of the yummy cookies that were provided! She slept really well on the way home! What a fun day!

"Helping" Mom bake a cake

Due to Dan's work schedule, we don't do FHE always on Monday nights. This week it ended up being on Tuesday. We decided to bake a cake...chocolate, 2 round layers with chocolate frosting...for our treat afterward. Anne volunteered to lick the extra batter. How can you say no to this face?

She did offer to share with me and Dan! Such a good little girl!

Cake turned out great and Anne cleaned up nice...once we got the spatula away from her! =)

Water Fun with Cousins

We had such a fun day with all of the Dewey cousins today. The Holmes family came back up to Utah for a quick visit to get another puppy and decided to spend one of their days here visiting at Mom and Dad's.

The kids wanted to play in the water. As you can tell, Anne couldn't wait!

Travis was going boating with Laurel's family so he got out the canoe and was washing it up. The kids had lots of fun playing in it.

Anne just can't get enough of water...kid after my own heart!
After lunch, we finally got the kids in swimming suits. The girls were tougher than the boys at first but in the end they were all in on the fun. While playing, Taylor showed up with his boys and a trailer full of stuff so we got the kids dressed again to go see he and Heather's new place and to help unload the trailer! It was a fun day full of family!

Anne goes to nursery!

Today was Anne's first time in nursery! I was somewhat forced into taking her a month and a half early. I was so nervous about it. I knew that the nursery leaders are excellent so I wasn't worried about them...I was just worried that she wouldn't like it.
Well, I don't know if it is because she has been in primary with me since the beginning of the year or what but she did great! When I peeked in on her before Relief Society began, they were singing "Popcorn popping on the apricot tree!" and she was sitting by her little friend Ellie and having fun!
I only had taken her in for the last hour of church but I think we are good to go for the full two hours...especially since she missed playing with all of the toys the first hour.
And here is proof that she does know that crayons go on paper. My sister gave me a great tip to use a drier sheet to get the crayon off of my door and it worked.

Our first wall mural!

I decided to play dress up with Anne a few days ago. I have some of my old dresses in a tote for her to play with and she pulled it out. We also decided to use the crown and she is holding a little princess doll.

This morning, as I was doing a little family history work on the computer, she said "Mommy, honey" (she says honey when she wants something) and when I turned around, she was holding this dress up for me. So, we put it on and she was ready to pose! Notice how she is starting to use the Bracken head tilt. She's learns a lot from her cousin!

So, after this cute moment with Anne and some other fun things today, I'm thinking I've got the sweetest angel of a daughter...and then this afternoon hits! She ripped a page from Dan's scriptures so she had to call and leave a message for Daddy on his phone saying she was sorry. She really did look sorry but didn't say anything on the message.

Then, she does this...

You'll most likely have to click on it to see it better. I was going through visiting teaching stuff on my bed when she grabbed one of her purple crayons and wrote this on the back of the door of my bedroom! (It looks like the word "why" to me. Hmm...) When I realized what she was doing, I said "Anne!" somewhat forcefully and it scared her. She dropped the crayon and came running to me. She had big tears before she even got to me. She cried and cried while giving me a big hug. How can you be mad at that? Well, she had to help me pick up all of the crayons and say "good-bye" to them for the rest of the day. Then, about 20 minutes later...she had found a stray crayon and did the little pink part to the right of the purple. Again, I said Anne and she came running with tears!
I still think I have a sweet little angel...just one that doesn't want to keep her creativity to the paper...meaning she is a normal kid that will do naughty things from time to time when mommy doesn't pay close attention. So, I decided to put away what I was doing and we played "Ring around the rosies" over and over again while watching Dora. She thought that was pretty fun!

Trip to the Hogle Zoo!

Dan once promised Anne that when she started walking that he would take her to the zoo...but then things got busy. On Tuesday, he saw her practically running and decided he needed to keep his word and take her. So, we decided to go the next day!
We arrived at the zoo just as it opened. We got the BEST parking spot ever! Then we waited for Dan's buddy and co-worker, along with his family, just inside the gate. Anne decided to figure out where to go first!
Of course you HAVE to take a picture of yourself with the lion drinking fountain! Luckily Anne was just interested in playing with the water coming out and not drinking it. Not sure if I trust that water! =)
I'm pretty sure Anne was telling me "no" in this picture!
Anne wanted to see everything...elephants, rhinos, giraffs...
and the birds! Luckily, she wasn't too interested when we stopped at the alligator (or were they crocodiles?) pond and saw the dead bunny laying in the bottom. Then we got to see the excitement of an alligator eating its lunch! Anne just wanted to run around and I was OK with that.
Then it was time for our lunch! Anne got a kids meal complete with RED tropical punch in this fun purple penguin bottle! (More on that later!)

Then we played in the playground area for a bit. The kids loved this because they could just run around...when we weren't posing them for cute pictures, that is! Hmm, do you think Anne is looking for the bunny?

Then we ended our day with a relaxing ride on the train. Note the change of clothes for Anne. Remember that RED punch we gave her? Half of it ended up all down the front of her and on the stroller! Silly mom letting her just have it and not paying attention!
Thanks Daddy for a fun day at the zoo! We left around 1:30 pm and Anne slept all the way home...and then some! She was a tired little girl after her first big day at the zoo!

Anne's baby!

Not all girls are natural "mothers" but most have a knack for it. It has been so fun to see Anne practicing her future-mommy skills with her "baby". I love that she is saying more words now and love to hear her ask for her baby. She feeds her (makes smacking sounds too), kisses her and rocks her. I've even heard her humming to her baby!

And then she discovered the diaper bag! She puts the bag around her neck and walks around the house holding her baby. Super cute! She has put a book, little stuffed animals and the bottle in the bag...sometimes the baby goes in there too.

And her mommy skills don't stop at dolls. She loves to mother little Bryce whenever she sees him. Her favorite is to take his bottle from him so she can give it back. And then she wants to hug and kiss him.

Speaking of babies, Rick and Jo-Ellen had baby #5 on July 3rd. I was hoping to have pictures by now but again...it is baby #5 so I'm sure they are a "little" busy right now! =) They named her Emma. Of course, that was what I wanted to name my baby for years and years but Antonia has the right name so it is OK. We were able to see her on a webcam chat we had with them last week. She is so cute! We can't wait until we can meet her!
