Introducing Antonia Lee Cartier

I would like to introduce to you the newest member of the Cartier Family. Our baby girl, Antonia Lee, was born March 6th at 4:40 am. She weighed 8 pounds 7 ounces and is 20 1/2 inches long. And as you can see, she already has a head full of black hair. The nurses loved it and sent her back from her bath with a cute little bow.

Everything went rather smoothly, which I did not expect. Dan and I were just talking about his new job that he got on Wednesday. He will be working for Kennecott Copper Mine starting March 17th so we were discussing how excited we are about that. I got up to finish getting ready for bed and then my water broke. This was at about 10:30 pm. We left our house a little after 11:00 pm and since we only live a few minutes away, it didn't take us long to get in and get things started. I didn't really start feeling contractions until after we arrived and I am so thankful for epidurals! It made such a difference!

After we started pushing, the doctor decided it might be best to assist the baby coming out, which I am thankful for since the cord was around her little neck. After getting that taken care of, he had Dan announce the gender "It's a girl!" and then had Dan cut the cord. They placed her on my tummy and all she did was look around. She didn't cry (just like me when I was born). Well, she did start to cry when they started poking at her. She is such an angel and we are so happy to finally have her with us!

Alisha!!!! I'm so excited for you! I'm glad everything went so well with the birth. You look like such a cute mommy! It was a bit overwhelming at first for me as I'm sure it is with a lot of first time Mom's. It just keeps getting better and better. Just wait until she smiles at you the first time...it just melts your heart! :)
